Way Ahead In Corrosion Control

Deepwater exhibits at OSEA 2012 in Singapore

Held every two years since it began in 1976, the Offshore South East Asia international conference (or, as we like to call it, OSEA) racked up its 19th edition during November 27-30, 2012, utilizing Singapore’s ritzy Marina Bay Sands for the first time. Also for the first time, Deepwater jetted over to swell the ranks of exhibitors, joining our long-time agent and collaborator JST Technical Services in their exhibit space.

The official post-conference head count claims that 26,713 attendees from 75 countries/regions were milling about, and we were determined to talk to each one of them. Or at least try. Deepwater and JST exhibited I-Rod brand pipe support systems and Deepwater’s cathodic protection retrofit technology to the burgeoning customer base in southeast Asia. I-Rod has been used in the region for more than 10 years, and local companies were pleased to learn that JST is stocking I-Rod products locally to reduce lead times. With customers able to buy directly from JST, the time and expense of dealing with go-betweens has been pretty much eliminated. With I-Rod inventory readily available locally, any use of inferior I-Rod imposter products in the absence of the real thing will also be absolutely unnecessary.

We were able to tout our cathodic-protection retrofit technology to a receptive audience as well. Having completed projects in Vietnam and the Gulf of Thailand, we’re gearing up for a steady increase in retrofit installations for this rapidly-growing group of customers.

JST Technical Services is a multifaceted business with offices in Thailand and Vietnam, ringing the Gulf of Thailand and representing such brands as Stopaq and RCS Instruments. And did we mention Deepwater and I-Rod brand pipe supports?
