Side by side salt test of all the bolts currently offered (and Xylan).
316 SS U-bolts are typically used in combination with I-Rod HT (amber) for higher-temperature applications. When the operating temperatures exceed 230º F, U-bolts are supplied bare, without polyshrink.
Standard Nu-bolts use hot dip galvanized A36 steel.
Originally designed as an automotive coating for corrosive environments, Sermagard has been widely accepted in the energy industry as one of the best anti-corrosion coatings for fasteners.
NON-GRIPPING NU-BOLTS
Non-gripping Nu-Bolts secure the pipe to the support while leaving enough clearance to allow for movement due to thermal expansion. In this configuration, one nut on each side is placed above the I-Rod strip to prevent the U-bolt from contacting the top of the pipe too tightly. The nuts can be adjusted to let the pipe move lengthwise without damaging the coating. Flat areas on each end of the I-Rod strip allow the top nut to remain firmly tightened once the desired clearance has been set.
